time to celebrate

I just recently celebrated 15 years of life and this time around, I have a new perspective on birthdays. Celebrating a birthday is such a gift. Another trip around the sun is a blessing from God! I woke up on my birthday with a new set of eyes for the day- gratitude to God for 15 years and a body that is working well.

I love birthdays - like never before. Not only was it my birthday recently, but it was also two of my best friends’ birthdays. Getting to celebrate them was so special. I will never forget the look on one friend’s face as she walked into the church on her birthday. She had her “16th Birthday” sash and crown on, wearing the greatest smile of all. She was celebrating life. I told her how much I loved that she loved her birthday and how grateful I was to know her. It was her special day.

For some, birthdays are dreaded. One may not see their life worth celebrating. “I have no purpose.” “Oh, it's just another day.” “I’m not worthy of a day of celebrating me.” All of these? LIES OF THE ENEMY!

I am here to remind you just how special you are. You are worthy of being celebrated. You being alive is a gift to the world.

Our God has a plan and a purpose for your life. He knit you together in your mother's womb for goodness sake! I can assure you- you are not here for nothing. YOU have something this WORLD needs. You bring something to the table. It sounds cliche, but seriously- you have a gift, not one other human has.

AND GET THIS- Heaven is celebrating you and your life! All the disciples, the prophets, loved ones, KING JESUS! - cheering you on in this life. I like to think they have light pink pom-poms and gold confetti. Knowing that on my birthday they were celebrating too... life-changing.

Friend, you matter. Jesus loves you so much. He thinks you are worth celebrating.

You are strong and courageous, fearfully, and wonderfully made- & above all, a child of the most high King.
