miracles on miracles!

In the past two months, I’ve seen the Lord perform miracles in my life. Miracles I’ve read about that happened in the Bible but have not seen happen in my life or my body. Miracles that have left friends and family saying “Really?!” as I explain what took place. Today, I want to share the two biggest miracles God has done within me recently.

1. For almost five years now, I’ve dealt with what felt like uncontrollable stomach pains. On and off on random days, my stomach would immediately be hit with the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. I’ve seen a couple of different doctors about it and have tried many medicines to stop this random cramping. After dealing with this pain for a while, I’ve learned all I can do is wait it out, sitting with my knees tucked to my chest. I’d wait for this pain to go away.

One day, I felt the uproar. The pain began to creep up and in a matter of seconds, I was on the floor waiting for it to end. As it slowly went away, I thought I was in the clear. I began to go about my day and opened my Bible to study Jeremiah. Just minutes into my study, the pain came back. This time, I was reminded of one name, Jesus. As it continued, I sat down and began to speak over myself, many times, “In Jesus' Name. In Jesus Name. In Jesus Name.” I cried out to the Lord, with tears running down my face, “God, I’ve read the story of you healing a woman who was bleeding for 12 years. Lord, would you please heal me?” And as I continued to speak the name of Jesus over myself, peace covered my body and the pains lessened, then stopped. I sat there just in shock at what had just happened. All I could do after that moment was praise His name. The only words coming out of me were “Thank You, Jesus. Thank You, Jesus. Thank You, Jesus.”

This wasn’t a little coincidence; it was a true miracle from God. For the first time, these pains lasted only a few minutes. For the first time, I felt peace instead of anxiety at that moment. And again, I was reminded of how powerful the name of Jesus is.

I have been greatly encouraged by ministry founder and author, Laney Rene as she talks about the power the name of Jesus had on her during labor. She shares how her mom just spoke Jesus over her as she was in pain, and she felt a sudden peace in her body. That is the power of Jesus’ name.

2. But the miracles don’t end there. About a month later I found myself with a sore throat. Something about me? I detest sore throats. They are probably my least favorite type of common sickness. When I get them, I am unmotivated, frustrated, and upset about it. After a day of wrestling with it, drinking all the water I could drink, and trying all the remedies I could think of, I laid in bed still in pain. I was feeling weak and felt the need to open my Bible to Psalms and pray before I went to bed. I had never felt this tug in me to do so before. As I opened Psalms 1, I read it aloud and prayed it over myself, continuing to Psalm 2. Once done, I closed my Bible and snuggled into bed. I laid there, listing in my mind all the medicines or remedies to heal this sore throat, but at that moment, it went away. I swallowed a couple of times to really test if it was gone and it truly was. It wasn’t until the next morning that it resigned in my mind what had happened. I spoke the Word of God over me, and God healed me. Not a coincidence, but a miracle. That morning, full of joy, I immediately told my mom what had happened. God healed me.

In the Bible, we often read of God healing the blind, the paralyzed, the bleeding, and the sick. He did it once, and He can do it again! God made His power and His character known to me in those moments.

With faith as small as a mustard seed, mountains can move. (Matthew 17:20)

There is great power in prayer. There is great power in the Name of Jesus. There is great power in His Word.

These stories of faith in my life also reveal to me the importance of reading His word. Having meditated and read scripture, I was able to speak it over myself in times of trouble. I was reminded of stories in the Bible that gave me hope for what Jesus could do.

Do you need a reminder of Jesus’ power? Read the story of Him healing the woman bleeding for 12 years in Mark 5, starting at verse 25.

Now, not every time did God heal me in seconds. There are times when God doesn’t immediately physically heal us. But in the end, to those who follow Jesus and surrender their life to Him, a greater life and reward is waiting.

Have faith as small as a mustard seed and watch what happens. When we have faith, God has favor on us.
