It’s officially SUMMER (!!!) Gosh! I love the summer vibes, but not the summer heat. Living in Florida has its pros- beautiful sunsets, delicious oranges, clear water beaches, and soft sand. Yet, it also has some cons- the biggest one, in my opinion, is the HEAT! Who wants to walk around in 90–100-degree heat? No, thank you. 😊
Not only is it summer, but it’s June and we are celebrating ONE YEAR of LIVE AS LIGHT blogs! This is crazy! This is amazing! This is all God and all for Him!
As I reflect on the year that we have had, I can’t help but praise God for His faithfulness. He has shown up time and time again, teaching me so many things. Today, as we celebrate one year, I want to share the biggest thing God taught me through this journey- doing it all for Him and not searching for the approval of others. My prayer is that it encourages you too.
In the production room of my church, there is a sign that reads “For The Kingdom” on the door as you walk out to the sanctuary. That sign is something I look at and think of every time I walk into the production room and work to apply in my daily life.
When I began Live As Light, I was just a 14-year-old girl with a passion to tell the world about Jesus through writing. I was never a big writer, certainly not in school, but one thing I could write about... Jesus. Jesus was my reason, my passion, my rock, my life. He leads me through the valley and carries me to the mountaintop. He loves me, chooses me, and sees me. How could I not tell the world about Him? Jesus, too, loves you, chooses you, and sees you. He, too, walks with you through the valley and leads you to the mountaintop.
Whenever I post on Instagram or blog, I pray over it. I pray that just one person is encouraged, one girl feels loved, and one teenager feels seen. I pray that God would do what only God can do. I pray that God's glory would be made known, and His name would be over it all. This world is fleeting, but one thing remains eternal- Jesus. His name is worthy of it all and even in the mundane things of life, we can praise Him. Even in the tasks of life, we can do it for Him.
Laundry? Praise Jesus that you get to do it.
Play a sport? Pray before you walk on the field and ask Jesus to be the center of it.
Have an Instagram following? Use it for God’s glory and to make His name known.
Hanging out with friends? Pray for them, talk about Jesus, and encourage them. Ask God to be the center of the conversation.
Not only that but do everything knowing that only God’s approval matters. I haven’t struggled with the feeling that likes or views are my worth, but there have been times when I would feel like I need to be this perfect, put-together person before showing myself on Instagram. Sometimes, knowing that people are going to see my face, I want to look the best. But the truth is, it's not for them to approve of me, but to be encouraged by the truth of the Word. God’s approval is the only one that matters today, tomorrow, and forever.
In every little thing, we can make Jesus known. He reigns highest. I pray every day that HIS name and HIS life are remembered. Jesus did the coolest things, is doing the greatest things, and is soon to come back.
PRAY WITH ME:
Thank You, Jesus, for one year of Live As Light. Thank You for the people encouraged and their lives changed. Thank You, Jesus, for Your great love and faithfulness. Thank you for who You are, the things you have done, and what You will continue to do. May nothing we do be for us, but all for You. Even in the little things of life, may You be the center, the reason, the name made known. You are King. Amen.
