worldly vs. wordly
Wait. read that again..
Looking at the title, you are probably wondering what the difference is in the words. Well, one says world, like the place you are living in right now, and one says the word. Referencing the truth that sets us free.
Those 2 words, represent 2 ways we could be living.
One has the wrong way to live and one has the right way.
One is the temporary way to live and one is the eternal way to live.
As I began writing a devotional on this topic, I typed “wordly” into my computer and I watched as a red squiggly line appeared under it. Now, in the technology world, this red squiggly line represents that the word was spelled wrong. So, I double clicked to check if it was my mistake, and it auto corrected it to WORLDly! In that moment, I realized just how much the world had an impact on us.
My computer was telling me that “WORDly” was wrong and that “WORLDly” was right. In this situation, my computer was being dumb and that made me think that when it comes to our way of living, maybe we are too?
So often we try to live for the world. We look at the people around us, fall into temptation, and change ourselves due to comparison. We live for the approval and acceptance of the world.
Approval and acceptance. They only come from one person.
-One king.
-One Jesus.
Jesus died for us to live. We were undeserving, we were sinful, but He was perfect. Yet, He died. And He knew He was doing it too.
When we live, we should live for Jesus.
When we live, we should live in the image of Jesus.
And lastly, when we live, we should live as a light.
Not just any light, but as the light of Christ.
He was perfect. He died.
We were sinful. We lived.
Make sense?
IT DOESN’T!
But Jesus is faithful. Jesus is loving. Jesus is the son of a good God.
Praise be to Jesus!
Romans 14:8 says, “If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.”
Want to know how to live?-
Here's your answer! Right in scripture. Right in the word. Right in your face!
LIVE FOR THE LORD. LIVE FOR THE WORD.
Instead of correcting your life to be for the world, change it to be for Jesus, always.
